Derby County have confirmed the signing of teenage midfielder Malcolm Ebiowei from Rangers on a one-year deal, with the teen making his debut for their under-18s yesterday.
The Rams are currently subject to restrictions banning them from registering new senior players, leading them to add a number of highly-rated Academy prospects this summer, with Ebiowei the latest as he brings to an end 17 months at Rangers.

Ebiowei joined Rangers after leaving Arsenal’s Academy amid a reported falling out with the Gunners hierarchy after the teen spent time training with Nigeria’s under-17 side.
Speaking when he first joined the Gers, Ebiowei credited having the chance to work with Steven Gerrard as one of the reasons he opted to move to Ibrox in 2020, however he’ll now have to try and impress Gerrard’s former England team-mate, Derby boss Wayne Rooney.
“I’m delighted to have signed for this great club,” Ebiowei told Rangers TV.
“I know it’s very big and happy to see what the future holds. The fanbase and the fans (attracted him to Ibrox). I’ve heard it is one of the biggest clubs and I’ve seen the fans on multiple videos. I love it.
“I’ve seen that Steven Gerrard likes to bring up the youths if they work hard and I’d like to take that chance.”
Prior to joining Rangers, Manchester City, Man United, Everton were all credited with an interest in the teen in the past and he also had a trial with West Ham United before heading to Ibrox at the start of 2020.

The midfielder has spent his time at Ibrox playing with the under-18s and B team, making a handful of appearances in the Lowland League this season as the Gers field a Colts side in the senior league pyramid for the first time.
After his move was confirmed, Ebiowei turned out for Adam Robinson’s under-18s but couldn’t stop them losing 3-0 to Newcastle United.
