Everton are set to renew their interest in Nathan Patterson, according to a report, with the Toffee’s apparently prepared to meet Rangers’ demands for the Scotland international when the January transfer window opens.
The Sun that Rafa Benitez’s side haven’t given up in their pursuit of Patterson despite Rangers reportedly rejecting several offers from the Premier League side before last month’s deadline.
The report claims Rangers want over £10million for Patterson, with Everton prepared to pay, but you’ll be lucky to find many Rangers fans who will agree with that valuation.
After making his debut at the start of 2020, Patterson has gone from strength to strength at Ibrox, even earning his spot in Scotland’s Euro 2020 squad and winning his first few caps while still a teenager.
While Rangers fans have to accept that the club has a value for every single player, £10million for Patterson isn’t close to what Everton should be paying for him.
The £25million Arsenal paid for Kieran Tierney is almost certainly out of reach at the moment but Everton will have to get much closer to that sort of fee for it to make sense for Rangers to sell.
The fact Everton were looking for around £5million for Jonejoe Kenny as he runs down the last year of his contract shows how cheaply they have tried to get Patterson from Rangers this summer.
Patterson will have a massive future ahead of him wherever he ends up but after seeing the likes of Billy Gilmour leave Rangers before ever establishing himself, Gers fans will be desperate to avoid a repeat with Patterson.
