Young Rangers defender Lewis Mayo has sealed a deadline day move to Partick Thistle [Rangers.co.uk].
The 19-year-old will join the Championship club on loan when he recovers from a minor injury, staying until the end of the season.
It’s a second loan signing for the Jags from Ibrox, after Jamie Barjonas moved to Firhill 10 days ago [ptfc.co.uk].
This is something of a surprising development, based on previous comments made by Thistle boss, Ian McCall.
When asked about interest in Mayo earlier in the window, he claimed that talks had been held, but that the deal was ‘dead in the water’, with Rangers refusing to let their player leave following an injury to fellow defender, Filip Helander.

Helander is still sidelined for the foreseeable future with that foot injury, but it seems the coaching staff at Ibrox have had a change of heart.
Mayo, who featured and scored in a pre-season fixture against Oxford United, is yet to make a senior competitive appearance for the Gers, but is an established member of the Colts and Development sides.
He’ll be looking to use the next few months to prove his ability to excel at first-team level, as Thistle attempt to haul themselves away from the drop zone and up the table.
