Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles has addressed his future amid transfer links to Rangers.

Danny Rohl likes Charles, having worked with him at Sheffield Wednesday, and wants a reunion at Ibrox this summer.

Jack Butland is unlikely to be offered a new deal at Rangers, potentially leaving the door open for the club to cash in on him in the coming weeks.

Charles, who is currently on international duty with Northern Ireland before he goes on his post-season break, has spoken about his future at Sheffield Wednesday.

While the 20-year-old has admitted that he is not thinking about his future, he left the door open to a potential transfer this summer.

Instead of saying that he will be at Hillsborough next season or that he wants to be, he said that he did not know what would happen in the transfer window.

Which keeper should Rangers sign this summer?

Jack Butland could be on his way out…

Charles said: “I’m not really focusing on that.

“After the ten days in camp working, I’ll focus on resting and enjoying my summer.

“You never know what might happen. We’ll see what happens when it comes to it.”

What has Charles been up to on international duty?

Despite being only 20, Charles has already become the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for Northern Ireland.

On Monday, he earned his 12th international cap when he played the full 90 minutes against World Cup favourites France.

Unfortunately for the keeper, he ended up on the losing side, suffering a 3-1 defeat, but it will have been an important learning experience playing against some of the world’s best players.

Charles made an important save to deny Kylian Mbappe when the score was 0-0, before the Real Madrid superstar was flagged for being offside.

Before that game, the Rangers target played 45 minutes for Northern Ireland as they beat Guinea 1-0 on Thursday.

Charles will now likely gauge all his options and make a decision on his future as the Light Blues are not the only side keen on signing him.

It remains to be seen if Rohl looks to touch base with him in the coming weeks in order to convince him to move to Ibrox.
