Journalist, Graeme Bailey, has claimed on Twitter that Rangers winger Jordan Jones is set to stay at Ibrox.

The likes of Birmingham City and Middlesbrough were reportedly interested in securing him on loan [Daily Record]. In fact, Gers insider Four Lads Had a Dream claimed last night that the Northern Ireland international was in talks to return to Boro, the club at which he started his career.

However, Bailey has now asserted that he’ll be staying put, after Rangers allegedly deemed all offers unsatisfactory.

Verdict

With several hours remaining in the window, it’s dangerous to assert that Jones will definitely not be heading elsewhere.

However, for now, it looks as though he’ll be remaining with the Gers squad for the second half of the campaign.

Jones has made just 12 appearances since joining from Kilmarnock in the summer and is yet to score for the club, but injury has played a large part in his lack of game time.

He damaged knee ligaments when lunging into Celtic full-back Moritz Bauer in early September and only returned to competitive action a fortnight ago in the Scottish Cup clash against Stranraer.

Given his injury problems and the fact that he’d made every Gers matchday squad of 2020, it seemed risky to allow him to leave, but now it looks as though he’ll have at least another few months to prove himself to the manager.
