The Daily Record reports that Hibernian forward Florian Kamberi wants a deadline day loan move to Rangers.

The 24-year-old has allegedly attracted interest from Polish top-flight side Lech Poznan and Italian Serie B outfit Virtus Entella, but it’s suggested that the Gers are willing to match bids from elsewhere.

The Edinburgh club are said to be angling for a loan deal with an option to buy for £750,000 at the end of the season, and are also interested in taking Greg Docherty on loan as part of the arrangement.

Verdict

Kamberi has only scored three times and registered three assists in 20 league appearances for Hibs this season.

That’s not a great record, but there’s no doubt he’s a strong technical player and he’s often been deployed out wide, rather than in his preferred central role.

It’s encouraging to see Rangers making a late bid to strengthen their resources in forward areas, especially given the recent injury sustained by Jermain Defoe.

It’s not yet known how long the veteran striker will be sidelined for, but at least if Kamberi comes in today, Rangers will have a second striker to call upon after Alfredo Morelos.

At 6ft 4″, Kamberi provides an aerial threat the Gers have at times lacked at the top end of the pitch.

Furthermore, they’d be bringing in a player with experience of Scottish football, which should mean he would need minimal adjustment to life at Ibrox.
