Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has called on the club to “accelerate” their transfer plans after seeing four of his players pick up injuries in the dominant win over Dundee United.

Leon Balogun, Ryan Jack, Brandon Barker and Alfredo Morelos were all injured in the 4-0 win with Joe Aribo, Allan McGregor and Niko Katic already sidelined.

Gerrard expects “two, if not three” of those injured to be out for several week so has put the pressure on the Gers hierarchy to add to the squad.

“I’ve been really clear that we need to add so I think we maybe need to try to accelerate that,” Gerrard said after his sides win.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Going off what I have just seen in the treatment room, there’s definitely going to be two, if not three, missing for a couple of weeks. We need to add pretty quickly so that our numbers are OK.”

The Gers face Lincoln Red Imps in the Europa League on Thursday night as they continue a hectic run of games over the coming weeks and it makes sense to add more bodies to the squad.

Gerrard has made no secret of his wish to add another midfielder and losing Barker, Aribo and Jack makes that even more pressing for the Light Blues.

The Gers have been linked with a move for Preston’s Daniel Johnston so they may already have their sights set on their number one target.
