Three English clubs are chasing a move for Rangers’ Josh McPake, according to a report, with Stockport County, Crewe Alexandra and Crawley Town all keen on the 20-year-old.
McPake has just returned to Ibrox after spending last season on loan with Morecambe and then Tranmere Rovers, and according to the Daily Record, he looks set to head back over the border for next season.
Despite being touted for the top earlier in his career, McPake has struggled to live up to his potential and it was recently reported that Rangers were prepared to rip his contract up this summer.
Loan stints with Dundee, Morton and Harrogate Town had mixed results before headed to Morecambe and Tranmere this season.
However, he again struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting XI at either club and it seems inevitable he’ll leave Rangers in the near future.
McPake’s likely Rangers exit comes as no surprise after struggling on loan
While his time at Harrogate can be deemed a success, his other stints out on loan weren’t quite as good for his development.
The likes of Alex Lowry, Charlie McCann and others have passed McPake by in their push for first-team football at Ibrox under Gio van Bronckhorst.
A return to the EFL on loan will give McPake a good platform to put himself in the shop window and it’ll be a good chance for him to impress.
