Former Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter has been reunited with a controversial ex-Ger in Joey Barton after signing for Bristol Rovers.
Rossiter, who was Fleetwood Town captain, has joined The Gas and is looking forward to working alongside Barton for a third time, having also played under him at Fleetwood.
The former Liverpool youngster, who was once tagged as the new Steven Gerrard, can’t wait to get started at Bristol Rovers after his move was confirmed, saying: “I can’t wait to get started. I was aware that Rovers were interested in me as soon as the season finished and I’m really excited to be able to call myself a Rovers player.
“I’ve played at The Mem before but that was during the COVID season. I know just how special the atmosphere is there and I’m excited to experience it for the first time. I’ve worked alongside the manager before at Fleetwood and I know how ambitious both he and Rovers are!”
Barton delighted to land ex-Rangers teammate Rossiter
Barton was over the moon to be reunited with Rossiter as he joins a growing band of ex-Fleetwood players at the Memorial Stadium, joining Paul Coutts, Sam Finley and Harvey Saunders.
“We are delighted to welcome Jordan to Bristol Rovers. A player who I know very well, Jordan is a leader both on and off the pitch,” Barton said.
“His dynamic and combative style, combined with his excellent football ability, will strengthen us in our midfield area.“I’m looking forward to working with Jordan again; he will be a superb addition to our group.”
Rossiter leaves Fleetwood just after former Celtic captain Scott Brown took the reins at Highbury and he’ll be hoping he can kick on with The Gas.
Despite injuries denying him the chance to fulfil his undoubted potential as a teen, Rossiter has carved out a solid career for himself in the EFL.
