Rangers and Celtic are both locked in a battle to secure the services of Brondby midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic.
Tahirovic has admirers at Rangers, but it is the Hoops who are making progress to sign the 23-year-old this summer.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international will be at the World Cup for the next few weeks, so his future is likely to be resolved after it.
Who must Rangers sell as part of the squad overhaul this summer?
Cavenagh and Rohl have major decisions to make.
Celtic make contact with Brondby to sign Benjamin Tahirovic ahead of Rangers
Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Celtic have taken a significant step in their pursuit of Tahirovic this summer.
They have initiated contact with Brondby to work out the feasibility of a transfer in the coming weeks.
The Italian journalist has claimed that the Hoops like the price and would want to go ahead with the deal.
However, despite making initial moves, it is not guaranteed that the Bosnian midfielder will be at Parkhead next season.

Speaking to SpilXperten, Di Marzio said: “Celtic really want Benjamin Tahirovic. They like him a lot, but of course, I cannot guarantee that they will finish the deal with him and Brondby.
“But for sure, they already contacted the club to ask for information on this player, like the price and the opportunity to get him.
Personally, I think he can be a very good player for Celtic. I remember him from AS Roma and he has the right abilities, but on a personal level and football wise, but we will have to see.
“All I can say is that they want him and they are trying to get him.”
Where does John Souttar rank among the best defenders in the Scottish Premiership?
He was handed a new Rangers contract earlier this year.
How Rangers can beat Celtic to Tahirovic’s transfer
Rangers‘ interest in Tahirovic does not seem to be as advanced as Celtic’s, so this development is unlikely to bother them.
However, if Danny Rohl does suddenly prioritise a move for the 23-year-old, he himself will need to step into negotiations.
He would need to touch base with the midfielder and his representatives and explain his plans at Ibrox.
Tahirovic would also need guarantees of regular playing minutes if he does decide to join Rangers.
With Nico Raskin’s future uncertain, there is a possibility that the Light Blues see the Bosnian as a replacement for the Belgium international.
As things stand, they remain behind Celtic, but things could change if they want them to.
