Tonight’s Europa League match-up between Rangers and outspoken NK Osijek is a difficult game – make no mistake – and it comes at a difficult time. Before the Scottish Premiership has even kicked off, Rangers season could start with celebrations or disappointment.

To ensure it’s the former, Rangers need big performances from three big players. Connor Goldson, Lassana Coulibaly and Alfredo Morelos have started the season with a bang, and we look at how they can keep it going tonight at Ibrox.

Connor Goldson

The Englishman has offered something Rangers haven’t had in a long time: strength, talent and composure at the back. A natural leader, he has to be at the top of his game and guide his defence through a tough match at a raucous Ibrox. I’ve no doubt he will – the £3.5m spent to take him from Brighton already looks a steal.

Lassana Coulibaly

The midfield “destroyer” may only have had one outing in a competitive Rangers game, but the on-loan Angers midfielder looks fit, hungry and more than capable. An athletic presence who covers every blade of grass, Rangers fans got a taste of what we can do with a crunching challenge in the first leg and expect the same tonight. An exciting acquisition who Rangers can build the team around. Watch this space.

Alfredo Morelos

The young Colombian has had a rollercoaster first year in Scotland, but it is hard to deny his talent and his character, even if he has been a little wasteful and frustrating. There’s no doubt that if he starts scoring regularly the momentum will build, and we’ll get to see the best of the ferocious young striker. Expect him to build on his 18 goals last season, and to maybe grab one tonight.
