Rangers fans’ reaction to Greg Docherty’s potential loan deal to England’s League One has been a mixed bag.

The midfielder has apparently been told by manager Steven Gerrard that he will not be part of his plans ahead of the coming season, according to the Daily Record.

Interest in Docherty is high, with League One his most likely destination. However, there has been no confirmation of where the youngster will ply his trade next season.

Docherty was one of the few bright spots from a forgettable season last term, showing a real engine and desire for the cause since his January signing from Hamilton. His work-rate was highly praised by the Rangers supporters throughout the campaign, and he ended the season as one of the few with his head held high.

However, with Scott Arfield and Lassana Coulibaly coming in from Burnley and Angers respectively, Docherty has been frozen out of Gerrard’s central midfield for the time being. Midfielders Ryan Jack, Ross McCrorie and Jordan Rossiter have all been praised by the new Rangers boss, leaving Docherty with an uphill task to force his way back in.
