Next season’s league campaign will kick off on the weekend of August 3/4 as Rangers look to finally end their long wait to get their hands on the title.

The SPFL confirmed a number of key dates for next season, including the dates of the winter break.

With the season getting underway in August, Premiership sides will break off between Monday, December 30 and Friday, January 17 for the winter break.

Rangers first involvement in the League Cup will come on August 17/18 when they enter the competition in the second round with the other teams taking part in Europe – while the final will take place on December 7/8.

With no date in place yet for the split, the SPFL have confirmed that the final games of the league season will over the weekend of May 16/17, with top six sides presumably continuing to play on the Sunday.

Gerrard’s side will likely begin their Europa League campaign a few weeks earlier meaning they will have some competitive games under their belt before the league season gets started.

The current season will end on May 25th following the Scottish Cup final – and it seems likely that a similar week-long gap between the league finale and Cup final will be in place next year.
