Rangers travel to Aberdeen on Wednesday night in a must win clash in the Scottish Premiership.

After making eight changes at the weekend, Gerrard’s side is likely to have a much more familiar look at Pittodrie.

The 4-0 win over St. Mirren on Saturday saw the Gers toy with a few different formations but a return to 4-3-3 seems most likely on Wednesday.

Adding an extra body in the middle of the park to dictate the pace of the game and control possession.

With Celtic sitting six points clear in the league, the Gers can’t afford any mistakes in the Granite City.

Personnel changes

Allan McGregor will keep his place in goals after picking up another clean sheet at the weekend.

Connor Goldson could return if he proves his fitness but it remains unclear yet if he’ll be available. If he’s not, Joe Worrall and Niko Katic will continue in central defence.

Both full-back spots will remain unchanged from Saturday with James Tavernier and Borna Barisic keeping their places.

The rest of the line-up heavily depends on which formation Gerrard opts for.

If he goes for 4-3-3 – which seems most likely – then going for Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack and Ross McCrorie in the middle would be the most logical choice.

Steven Davis is still a little bit away from being at 100% and the Gers need everyone at their best – although if Gerrard sticks with the midfield diamond then Davis will likely start ahead of McCrorie or Jack.

Daniel Candeias should come back into the side, probably at the expense of Jermain Defoe, and offer more width down the right.

Ryan Kent will be hoping to build on his man of the match performance against the Buddies onSaturday

The Portuguese winger also adds an extra dimension defensively which will help the Gers get a result.

Alfredo Morelos will almost certainly get the nod in attack but whether he is partnered by Defoe will depend on the formation.

If Gerrard goes 4-3-3 Morelos will start flanked by Kent and Morelos. If not, he’ll have Defoe beside him.
