Celtic fans and their desperation to be loved has once again proven the source of much hilarity over the last 24 hours as Rangers fans were left in tears at the latest ‘achievement’ from the Gallowgate Galacticos.
A stat showing they had one of the highest number of average passes per game so far this season was held up as proof of “what a job” the Australian is doing – although Rangers fans think the league table tells a different story.
Beating the likes of Ajax, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Marseille and Real Madrid with 671.3 average passes, Celtic were second on the Sky Sports list – behind Manchester City.
However, they also sit six points behind the champions in the Scottish Premiership table and Rangers fans were quick to remind them.
Maybe instead of focusing on having the best set of disco lights in Glasgow and the West of Scotland and most sensitive set of hamstrings anywhere in football, winning points in the league should be the real focus instead of these meaningless achievements.
Rangers might not make as many pointless passes across the back four and between the midfield and defence as Celtic but the Light Blues have proven this season they are more than capable of rolling their sleeves up and winning ugly too.
With the next Old Firm rapidly approaching, come the final whistle the focus won’t fall on which of the two sides completed the most passes – although if things go as hoped, it might give Celtic fans a bit of solace as Rangers extend their lead at the top of the table.
