Hamilton Accies have signed a second new player ahead of their trip to Rangers on Sunday afternoon [Hamiltonacciesfc.co.uk].

Accies are in the midst of an injury crisis and are languishing at the bottom of the Premiership table with just seven points from 11 matches.

However, the Lanarkshire club brought in former Sheffield United winger Nathan Thomas on Friday on a deal until the end of the season and now they’ve snapped up a defender.

Brian Rice’s side have conceded more goals than any other team in the league and so he’ll be hoping that new arrival Aaron Martin can add some solidity at the back.

The signing of the 31-year-old centre-back – who counts Exeter City, Oxford United, Birmingham City and Southampton amongst his former clubs – was confirmed on Saturday afternoon and he is available to face the Gers at Ibrox.

“I’ve been in the game a long time now, I’m looking forward to playing a different style of football and I’m really looking forward to getting going again,” he told Hamiltonacciesfc.co.uk.

“There will be some tough games up here but I”m looking forward to experiencing the difference in opposition in Scotland.”

Martin’s signing is a boost for Accies but the Englishman hasn’t played since June, so it would be a big ask to throw him straight into the starting XI at Ibrox.

The Gers haven’t been overly free-scoring in the league but their form coming into the game is outstanding and with Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe all available, the hosts will expect to run out comfortable victors.
