It’s true that Bluenoses and Arabs don’t often see eye-to-eye but you’d be hard-pressed to find any Rangers fan who isn’t impressed by this monumental Tannadice result.

The ex-Gers kid accepted a switch on the right hand side of the pitch with an hour played at Tannadice before jinking his way by two, playing a one-two and curling the ball into the top corner with his left foot.
It’s a beauty and it sets the Dundee United trip to the Netherlands up very nicely with this only halfway in the tie and AZ Alkmaar surely reeling from this upset.
Rangers are hoping to turn their return against Belgian side USG around, with Ibrox expectant and the Gers hoping the Glasgow crowd can inspire what at the moment looks like a monumental turnaround.
But for now, no-one could begrudge Dundee United fans for revelling in an historic victory.
It’s true that it is Rangers’ immense work in Europe that has afforded Dundee United this opportunity – even if their fans might not admit it – but kudos to the Premiership side for grabbing it with both hands.
As for Glenn Middleton, if you listen closely, you can hear a distant Rangers fan suggesting we should never have sold the 22-year-old wide man in the first place…
