He was relieved of the duties temporarily during the 2019/20 season after going through a rough patch, but although Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield and Ianis Hagi all had a go, no one impressed sufficiently to get the gig full-time.

Tav returned to spot-kick duties for 2020/21, with Borna Barisic deputising when the right-back was out injured.

Overall, the Gers skipper has netted 30 penalties during his time at the club and has missed seven [Transfermarkt].

He’s still got some way to go to become the most prolific penalty scorer in the club’s long history, though.

That’s because the player with the most penalty goals for Rangers, the late Johnny Hubbard, has 65 to his name [The Free Library].

The South African winger played for Rangers between 1949 and 1959 and earned the nickname ‘Penalty King’ because of his remarkable consistency from the spot.

Hubbard only missed three penalties in his Ibrox career and famously scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 Old Firm win on New Year’s Day 1955.

After a decade with the Gers, Hubbard was sold to Bury for a fee of £6,000 and following three years in England, he returned to Scotland to finish his career with Ayr United.
