£85m superstar Rangers fans showered with praise in March set for Ibrox appearance

Gareth Bale is set to make an appearance at Ibrox later this month when Real Madrid face Rangers in a high-profile pre-season friendly [Glasgow Live].

Bears were blown away last week when the club announced the glamour tie, which has been organised as part of the Gers’ 150th anniversary year celebrations.

With pre-season matches, there’s always a danger that clubs will field weakened teams.

In fact, Rangers will have to do that the day before their clash with Los Blancos, when Premier League side Brighton travel up to Ibrox for a fixture against the Premiership Champions.

Yet, for now, the signs are good in terms of Real fielding a side full of Galacticos.

There are doubts about Eden Hazard’s fitness after his struggles with injury at Euro 2020, but according to Glasgow Live, the Spanish giants have confirmed that all others who took part in the tournament will return to full training next week.

That means the likes of Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Bale could be involved against the Gers.

Bale, who cost the Spanish giants a reported £85.3m when he joined from Tottenham in 2013, was showered with praise by Bears as recently as March.

The support of the Wales star via social media came after he elbowed Czech Republic defender Ondrej Kudela during a World Cup Qualifier in Cardiff, soon after Kudela had racially abused Glen Kamara during a Europa League Last 16 tie between the Gers and Slavia Prague.

Before the Light Blues take on Brighton and Real, they have a fixture against Arsenal at Ibrox this weekend before travelling to Bloomfield Road to face Blackpool next Wednesday.

A new signing is yet to feature in pre-season and his unexplained absence is concerning given his 2020/21 struggles.
