Rangers defender George Edmundson looks set to join Derby County on loan after travelling south for a medical, according to Sky Sports, and Gers fans on Twitter are hopeful it can earn the 23-year-old a reprieve at Ibrox.
The defender is recovering from hip surgery but is due back within days – but looks set to see out the remainder of the season at Pride Park after falling from grace at Rangers.

Alongside Jordan Jones, Edmundson made a huge dent in his Gers career hopes with his stupidity in going to a party while under Covid restrictions, and it is no surprise to see both moved on.
That act saw both players banned for seven games but Edmundson had found games hard to come by anyway thanks to the impressive form of Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun and Filip Helander.
The defender is (or maybe was) a popular figure with Rangers fans after impressing following his move from Oldham 18 months ago.
With Derby now managed by Steven Gerrard’s former England team-mate Wayne Rooney, then Edmundson will have spent time working under the pair as well as another former England star in Paul Scholes.
Edmundson’s long-term future at Ibrox is hanging by a thread with Niko Katic due back from injury pretty soon and Jack Simpson signing a pre-contract ahead of a summer move.
‘The Fridge’ will need to really impress in the Championship for Derby in the coming months if he is to have any hopes of returning and having a Rangers future – with some fans doubtful he’ll play for the club again.

Edmundson to Derby would make sense. Gerrard admitted in that interview he was talking to Rooney about players. Give the Fridge some time out of Glasgow, to refresh and get playing. Hopefully realise what he could lose. Think with Bassey and Leon King we have enough.

I liked George but he put our season at risk by breaching COVID protocols. Not surprised he’s now been sent out on loan. https://t.co/CJzueRMPA4

A big celebration is being planned for when the title is sealed and there’s said to be a ‘realistic chance’ of the Red Arrows playing a part.
