The Scottish Premiership title race has been one-horsed for far too long. Any self-respecting fan that suggests that’s good for the game here is at it.
It’s good for Celtic and Celtic alone.
But with the financial gap between the two clubs being held over Govan like a mistake in a bad marriage, Rangers are fstarting to find their feet. It’s not all about money.
The Ibrox club sit two points behind Celtic as we edge closer to the half way point in the season.
After Celtic slipped up against Livi and Rangers demolished Motherwell, the feeling certainly shifted on Remembrance Sunday.
Even if Celtic took the lead at the top for the first time, the momentum still feels with Rangers.
Huge December ahead but Rangers in with a shout
The next month and a half really will make or break our season. First up we have two weeks off, and it’s essential we regroup this time and go into the next round of fixtures as ruthless as we ended these.
After the last round of internationals, we struggled to keep form. We came off the back of 3-1 wins against Vienna and Hearts but toiled away to Hamilton before eventually going three games without victory.
It’s been the most tumultuous period of Steven Gerrard’s reign so far.
But when we come back we have the perfect match in Livingston at Ibrox (21/11). And then the chance to make a huge statement in Europe against Villarreal (29/11).
After that, and hold your breath, we have Hearts (A), Aberdeen (H), Dundee (A), Rapid Wien (A), Hamilton (H), Hibs (A), St. Johnstone (A), Hibs (H) and Celtic (H).
So yeah, quite the winter run in.
And if Rangers are to win the league this season and maintain a title race into the second half of the year, we need some giant performances over the next two months. December in particular has many potential pitfalls.
But if the team can’t handle that run in and title race, we won’t deserve the title anyway.
This next period is going to make or break our season. Send it on.
