These Rangers fans in tears as Birthday Card FC strike again

Celtic’s descent into what has quickly become known as the ‘Banner Years’ has kept Rangers fans entertained over the last few months – but their recent sideline as an online birthday greeting company has them in tears this morning.

With anyone who has even a tangential link to Celtic getting sent a happy birthday, it was Old Firm legend Anton Rogan’s turn to be chucked under the bus.

The defender became a big favourite of Rangers fans when he inexplicably punched the ball as he contested a Terry Butcher cross with Richard Gough in an Old Firm clash on April 1 1990.

Mark Walters stepped up to convert the resulting penalty before Mo Johnston added a second with Ally McCoist completing the scoring from the spot to break Derek Johnstone’s post-war Gers league scoring record with his 211th league goal for the club.

Rangers fans were quick to join in with the well-wishes for Rogan on his his 55th birthday as the 31st anniversary of his Old Firm moment of madness – which also happened to be the first Old Firm broadcast live by Sky – nears.
