Rangers reserves have climbed to the top of the SPFL Reserve League table with a win over Celtic in today’s Old Firm clash and fans on Twitter were delighted for the young Gers.

A double from Glenn Middleton secured the three points and put the title’s destination firmly in the hands of Graeme Murty’s side with two games to go.

After the full-time whistle, fans took to Twitter to celebrate – with the performance of Middleton a particular focus for some.

The Gers face Hamilton and Falkirk before the end of the season – as well as having Glasgow Cup final against Celtic – and could end the season with a fantastic haul of trophies.

Many of Murty’s side are still only 16-18 and have done really well stepping up the age groups and competing at reserve level.

Next up is Hamilton next Monday with the fixture against Falkirk still to be announced after it was postponed due to the recent internationals.

As fans praised the win over Celtic, some were calling for Middleton to get a chance to impress in the first-team again before the end of the season after his recent run of form in the reserves.
