Ryan Jack will be out of today’s match with Dundee, but reports are suggesting he will be out of Thursday night’s big Europa League match with Rangers too.

The midfielder has been on good form for Rangers. He played a key role for Rangers in getting to the Europa League group stages and it is a big loss if true.

Steven Gerrard said he was jealous of the industrious midfielder’s performance against Maribor.

A loss to the midfield but we do have cover

Ryan Jack is becoming a mainstay in the side and alongside Coulibaly and Arfield, probably represents one of our three best midfielders. But Gerrard also has Halliday, McRorie and Ovie Ejaria in this position.

Jack’s energy and industry means it is likely the versatile Scott Arfield may be expected to fulfil Jack’s role. Expect Ejaria to play in that other midfielder starting berth.

Whilst it is a major loss to lose Jack, it’s a chance for someone else to make themselves a hero in the El Madrigal.

Jack only just getting back to full fitness

It is also a hugely unfortunate injury for Ryan Jack. The midfielder missed more than half of last season through injury and was beginning to find his feet.

He made his second cap for Scotland and began to show commanding performances. If not complete consistency. It’s encouraging that it feels like the best is yet to come for Jack.

The fans and backroom staff at Rangers will be hoping Jack makes a speedy recovery from injury and gets back into the team.

No one will be hoping for this more than Jack.

A fully fit Ryan Jack could be a major weapon in Rangers arsenal.
