Inverness Caledonian Thistle boss John Robertson has lavished praise on the “superb” Rangers Colts after his side narrowly pipped them to a Tunnocks Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup Final spot.
The young Gers side were hoping to make history after a stunning run to the semis which saw them beat the likes of Solihull Moors and Wrexham.
But despite crashing out courtesy of a 2-1 loss to Caley, Robertson said the young Gers side did their club proud and could hold their heads high.
“I thought Rangers were superb,” said John Robertson [BBC Alba].
“Honestly, the kids. We were told about the players’ attitude, the way they would play, the enthusiasm, the honesty and they showed all of that.
“They got their early goal which gave them something to play for and should have been two up. We were fortunate to get in 1-1 at half-time.
“The pitch was bad, the weather was bad – for both teams.
“But I thought Rangers were superb, I really did.
“The enthusiasm, the freshness, their ability, the way they knocked it about: they’ve done their club proud tonight, they’ve done their badge proud tonight becuse they were superb.
“I said that to Graeme Murty. We gave them the strongest compliment by playing the strongest team we had available and they matched us every step of the way.
“They were superb tonight and very unlucky not to go through.”
It’s the highest compliment from Robertson who saw his adult Championship side pushed all the way by a youthful and energetic young Rangers side.

Robertson isn’t the only one singing the Colts praises either – here’s what Graeme Murty had to say about their performances [RangersTV].
