Reported Rangers target Fashion Sakala has admitted that he’ll only leave current club KV Oostende if he is going to “play every week” and insisted he is in no rush to leave the Belgians.
The Gers are reportedly considering a move for the 23-year-old Zambian on a pre-contract but the striker has confirmed talks are ongoing with his current side about extending his contract.
Sakala, somewhat unsurprisingly, confessed that he wants to play in the Premier League or La Liga and called Belgium’s top-flight one of the “best leagues in the world.
“Yes, there is interest from other teams. At the same time, talks are ongoing with KV Oostende about a new contract and we will see where we end up,” Sakala said [Daily Record].
“I play in one of the best leagues in the world. If I were to leave, both the club and I would benefit from it. But I am still very happy here.
“For me, signing a new contract would be no problem at all. I feel good here and have played almost every week in recent seasons.
“If I decided to go to a new club, it would need to be somewhere I got to play every week and was content. But honestly, I am in no hurry to leave because I am happy here.
“Of course, if I could choose which league I would want to play in I would pick La Liga or the English Premier League.”
The 13-times capped star has been linked with Anderlecht, West Ham United and Newcastle United with his contract ending in the summer.
Rangers aren’t short of striking options with Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe, Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten all at the club but the summer transfer window could see at least one of those move on.
