Rangers-linked Jonathan Panzo is reportedly a target of Birmingham City as they look to replace the influence of ex-Arsenal defender Auston Trusty this season.
According to Birmingham Live, Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo is one of a number of targets being mused over by the Championship club as they look to bolster their defence.
This comes after Fans’ Player of the Year Auston Trusty returned to Arsenal in the summer before eventually completing a reported £5m transfer to Premier League Sheffield United.
Rangers were of course mentioned alongside both Auston Trusty and Jonathan Panzo and the Ibrox club’s supporters will have one eye on what happens here after a summer of links.

Whilst the kind of money being paid for Trusty ruled Rangers out of the running, Jonathan Panzo was mentioned by Fabrizio Romano as being a legitimate target earlier in the window.

However, as the weeks have developed that reported £2.5m Rangers interest has fizzled out and now Jonathan Panzo is being linked to Birmingham City.

Rangers manager Michael Beale has been clear that the club will look to strengthen in defence if players of a suitable calibre become available in the weeks and months ahead.
As things stand, Rangers have some solid centre-back options with Connor Goldson, John Souttar, Ben Davies, Leon Balogun and Leon King all coming back to full fitness.
However, the defensive crisis of last season remains fresh in the memory and left-sided centre-back has been signposted as an area which could use reinforcements.

With Auston Trusty moving to Sheffield United and Jonathan Panzo now being linked to Birmingham City, Rangers are now reportedly casting their net elsewhere.
Whilst links to the likes of Harry Souttar and Zak Vyner have been rebuffed, when it comes to another target some might take the club’s transfer silence as golden.
