Lincoln Red Imps defender Roy Chipolina admits his side will need to “play the perfect match” if they are to repeat the “impossible” and beat Rangers on Thursday.

The veteran played when the minnows beat Celtic in Brendan Rodgers’ first game in charge and knows his side face a massive task to beat the Light Blues over 90 minutes in Gibraltar.

Despite that, he insists his team-mates will give everything in the “historic” fixture as they look to beat the odds and book their place in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.

“We will need to play the perfect match and hope they have an off day,” Chipolina said, as quoted by The Scotsman.

“As many are aware, the impossible has happened before here in Gibraltar and I am sure Rangers will be aware of what we did to Celtic!

“We know what we are up against and the only thing I can guarantee is that we will give our all in what will be another historic fixture on The Rock.”

The Gers headed to Gibraltar this afternoon ahead of the game and will likely be without Ryan Jack and Brandon Barker after picking up injuries at the weekend while Alfredo Morelos is a doubt.

The Colombian was reported to be out of the clash but joined the rest of his team-mates as they flew out of Glasgow earlier today.
