Rangers fans now know the players who will be representing the opposition in Sunday evening’s high-profile friendly at Ibrox, after Real Madrid confirmed their matchday squad.

The Spanish giants shared updates on their journey to Glasgow via their social media channels on Sunday and then provided a full squad list.

Unfortunately for Bears, the likes of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, all of whom played key roles for their respective countries at the European Championships, haven’t made the trip.

However, there are some highly-decorated and expensive players in the travelling party.

Marcelo is set to captain Los Blancos and is probably the highest-profile member of the squad.

The 58-cap ex-Brazil international has made 528 competitive appearances for Real, winning five La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues along the way, while he’s also been named in the UEFA Team of the Year on three occasions.

The left-back is joined by fellow first-team defenders Nacho and Alvaro Odriozola, but no established goalkeepers have made the trip.

In terms of midfielders, Isco and Martin Ødegaard are the two big names, with several younger players also set to be given opportunities.

Three forwards have been included, all of whom have quality.

Lucas Vasquez is a Spain international who has been at the Bernabeu since 2015, Rodrygo has three caps for Brazil and Real signed Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported €60m (£51.4m) in 2019 [Evening Standard].

Rangers are set to name a strong starting XI, with James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Steven Davis and Ryan Kent all likely to be included after only playing minor roles against Brighton on Saturday.

This is the Gers’ final pre-season match and Carlo Ancelotti’s side’s first and it’s shaping up to be a good contest.

For those who didn’t get a ticket, the match will be live on RangersTV and a quality lineup has been announced for the broadcast.
