Rangers loanee Ben Williamson was named in Livingston’s starting XI for the 0-0 draw with Dundee at the weekend, bring a run of four consecutive defeats to an end for the West Lothian side, as the Ibrox youngster made his Premiership debut.
Williamson and Livi had yet to pick up a single point in the league before the trip to the City of Discovery and the Rangers youngster could have broken the deadlock right on half-time when his ferocious striker dipped just over the crossbar.
While it was for from an attractive game for neutrals, both sides showed plenty of commitment and Williamson put in a good shift before he was replaced 17 minutes from the end by Keaghan Jacobs as both sides tried to find a winner.
Williamson had made a couple of appearances in the League Cup for Livi following his loan move from Ibrox earlier this summer and, after returning from Scotland under-21 duty, he was handed his first taste of top-flight league football.
The midfielder looks to have a big future ahead of him and after impressing on loan at Arbroath, he’ll be hoping to use his time at the Tony Macaroni Arena to push him closer to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers first-team.
The 20-year-old attempted 24 passes, and made two interceptions in an industrious performance before Livi boss Martindale brought on Jacobs in his place to see out the final stages of the game.
As well as Williamson making his debut for Livingston, Dundee handed a first start to controversial Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths following his loan move from Parkhead.
