Rangers will be a “force this season” according to Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray after seeing his side come away from Ibrox with a 1-1 draw in yesterday’s friendly at Ibrox.
Yesterday was the first Mowbray has seen any of Gerrard’s side but was evidently impressed with what was on display on his return to Ibrox for the first time since leaving their bitter rivals.
“I can say hand on heart I have never watched a moment of Rangers play this season but we played Liverpool this time last season and they play the same 4-3-3 formation,” Mowbray said, as quoted by Football Scotland.
“They press high from the front, they drop their midfielders deep and try and overload you.
“They suck you on top of them then play through.
“As I said they are a well-coached team and you can see they are going to be a force this season.”
The Light Blues turn their attention to Thursday’s clash with Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League and Gerrard will be hoping his side cut out the mistakes that appeared yesterday.
With a chance to avenge the 2017 defeat to the minnows, Gers fans are eager to see their side obliterate Progres on Thursday.
Hopefully, Mowbray is right and the Gers can become a force this season and finally end the long wait to win the league title back.
