Rangers fans have long been acquainted with the ‘Subway Loyal’ but it took on a whole new meaning today as the sandwich chain trolled a Celtic fan on Twitter after slating one of their subs.

After being told one of their sandwiches “look awful,” Subway’s Twitter admin delighted Rangers fan by taking a pop at Celtic’s performance in the last Old Firm game, retorting “not as awful as last game against Rangers.”

We won’t need to go into much detail about what happened the last time Rangers and Celtic met – although for the benefit for any Celtic fans looking in, here is a link to the SPFL’s highlights from the 2-1 win for Steven Gerrard’s side.

The ‘Subway Loyal’ have long stoked some controversy within the Rangers support but there will be few who aren’t happy to be members today.

Fans on Twitter were quick to respond to Subway’s jibe at Celtic – with one joking that the Gers were “delighted to announce a long term Food and Banter partnership” with them.
