Rangers trio Robby McCrorie, Jon McLaughlin and Ryan Jack have been named in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the triple-header with Israel, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The news Jack has been named in the squad is a particular boost given his recent injury and suggests that he should be back in time for next month’s Old Firm clash – although Clarke remained cautious.
McCrorie is yet to win his first cap for Scotland after making his maiden international squad last time around and he has continued his solid performances for Livingston in recent weeks.
With two goalkeepers in the 26-man squad, and Allan McGregor a shoo-in if he wasn’t retired, it’s a promising sign for Rangers to have McCrorie joined by Robby McCrorie.
The Scotland boss confirmed that, despite being in the squad, Jack isn’t back training fully but will monitor how the Ibrox star progresses over the next week.
“I think the situation with Ryan is that he’s picked up an injury and missed a few weeks for Rangers,” Clarke said.
“He’s working back towards training and he’s back out on the training ground, not fully with the team but with the physios, so we can select him and see how the situation develops over the next seven days.”
