Rangers captain James Tavernier admits seeing the club make four signings already this summer has been “fantastic” – and hes delighted to see Romanian star Ianis Hagi return to the club permanently.
Hagi joins Jermain Defoe in making his loan move permanent while Jon McLaughlin and Calvin Bassey both join the club on Bosmans.
Tavernier hopes the signings are a sign of intent for the season ahead and told how he’s already spoken to a “really excited” Calvin Bassey ahead of his arrival later this week.
“It’s fantastic to see, especially in the situation we are in,” Tavernier told Rangers TV.
“A lot of clubs are finding themselves in financial situations which are not on the plus-side for them.
“But it is great to see we are doing business in early-doors to strengthen the squad.
“It’s great to have Ianis back as he was a key part to us at the end of the season, and I have spoken to Calvin already and he is really excited to come up.
“So it is good we are strengthening the squad and showing the intent of what we mean this season.”
Tavernier and the rest of the Rangers squad will be able to return to full-contact training from tomorrow as preparations continue for the new season.
With no friendlies announced yet and no word on when they will be able to be played, today’s changes means Steven Gerrard’s side will at least be able to have intra-squad games.
The new sigings will really get the chance to know their team-mates a bit better and, hopefully, Gerrard’s squad are in peak condition come the season starting in August.
