Celtic legend Frank McAvennie has gone on a bizarre rant asking if Rangers are “that good” after the Gers surged 13 points clear of their bitter rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Neil Lennon’s side have had a fairly atrocious run of form recently, sparking a massive meltdown across the city as their fans turn nasty against the board and management at Celtic Park.

McAvennie seemed perplexed by James Tavernier’s goal-scoring form – complaining that the Gers skipper has scored “twelve” penalties this season, somehow conjuring up three additional penalties for the Ibrox star.
“Are they that good? They are on a high as they are scoring goals,” McAvennie said [Youtube].
“Look at that boy Tavernier, he was your centre-forward. He tapped a ball in, but what is he even doing there?
“He has scored twelve penalties.
“He is going to be the top goalscorer and win the golden boot with penalties
“Don’t give me all that. I am not having all that.”
Tavernier has scored nine penalties to take his tally to sixteen so the Rangers skipper has still managed to add seven goals this season, putting him above all bar one Celtic player so far this season.
The Ibrox star deserves every bit of praise coming his way and his forays into incredibly attacking positions don’t appear to hurt Rangers given their near-perfect defensive record this season.
