Rangers star Alfredo Morelos will miss Thursday’s Europa League tie with Lincoln Red Imps as a result of the horror injury he suffered in the weekend win against Dundee United, according to a report.

The Colombian striker was stretchered off with a hole in his thigh after an outrageous challenge by Ryan Edwards in the 4-0 Ibrox rout.

According to the Daily Record, Morelos faces several weeks on the sidelines as a result and will miss the trip to Gibraltar – and may well miss the league clashed with Hibs and Motherwell too.

Morelos started the game on the bench at the weekend before replacing the injured Brandon Barker 20 minutes in and El Bufalo put in a good shift before his game was also ended prematurely.

The striker was one of four Rangers players injured over the weekend with Leon Balogun hurt in the warm-up before Morelos, Barker and Ryan Jack were all forced off during the win.

That’ll likely leave Steven Gerrard to go with Kemar Roofe leading the line on Thursday night, although there is also the option of including Cedric Itten or Jermain Defoe in attack.

Whether Morelos’ injury has any impact on the ongoing transfer circus surrounding him is anyone’s guess but his performance on Saturday suggests he’s willing to put the work in to impress Gerrard after having his ‘head turned’ before the international break.
