Rangers star Joe Aribo has capped off an impressive debut season at the Gers by winning the club’s Young Player and Goal of the Season awards.
The midfielder also won his first international caps for Nigeria and helped Steven Gerrard’s side reach the last 16 of the Europa League – after his former boss at Charlton Lee Bowyer had insisted sticking around with his side would be best for Aribo’s development.
The Super Eagles star netted nine goals in 48 appearances after moving north of the border and admitted he is delighted that fans are giving his performances recognition after supporters voted him as Young Player of the Season.
“It’s an absolute delight and I’m very happy to have won the awards and ready to keep going into the new season,” Aribo told Rangers TV
“The fans are absolutely class. They show so much ambition and passion and it’s nice for my performances to be seen and I’m delighted the fans can see it.
“I’ve set myself some targets and I just want to keep on putting in the best performances possible.”
Aribo’s strike against Braga, unsurprisingly, was named the club’s Goal of the Season

“All I remember is being backed into an alley and having to keep going and hearing the crowd shouting ‘pass’,” Aribo said.
“Then it changed and I got into a position where I could shoot and they were screaming ‘shoot’ after that and I just slotted it in.”
Aribo has made a really impressive start to the return to football with his pre-season performances and, hopefully, he can carry that into the competitive fixtures now.
Despite picking up two awards for his performances last term, he needs to do it on a consistent basis this season and really build on the fantastic start he’s had at Ibrox.
