Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos could still leave Ibrox this month with the Daily Record claiming that Qatari side Al Duhail are plotting a new move for the Colombian striker.
After fans rejoiced on Tuesday morning when Morelos was still a Rangers player, a mega offer from the super-rich side could force the Gers’ hand.
Al Duhail still have over a fortnight left of their transfer window with the deadline for signings falling on October 25 in Qatar, although it doesn’t seem as though Rangers are under any pressure to sell.
Morelos has never made any secret to play in one of the top European leagues and that certainly doesn’t cover the Qatar Stars League so Morelos isn’t going to be barging down Steven Gerrard’s door demanding a move.
Despite Al Duhail sharing ownership with Paris Saint Germain, Morelos is every bit as likely to win a move to Paris playing for Rangers as he is plying his trade in Doha.
The Record’s report claims that Al Duhail are unlikely to match a previously rejected bid for Morelos which would have earned an initial £13million payment, £3m in potential add ons and a future sell-on fee of 20 per cent.
If that is the case then there isn’t really any point in making contact with Rangers over a move for Morelos with a reported bid of just over £18million from Lille rejected and the club adamant they won’t sell for a penny less than £20million.
