Rangers star Jermain Defoe has been announced fit for the Ibrox club’s trip to Aberdeen this week.

Defoe wasn’t available for selection against Young Boys and played over 20 minutes for Rangers against Hearts at the weekend.

The doubts over his fitness led a journalist to ask Steven Gerrard about the striker’s condition during the pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Aberdeen.

When asked about the veteran England striker’s condition, Gerrard simply answered that Defoe was “fine”.

The Rangers boss also confirmed that barring Jordan Jones, there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Scottish Premiership match with Aberdeen.

“We’ve got a couple of bumps and bruises from the weekend that we’re managing but I think we’ll be ok and have everyone available [for Aberdeen],” said Gerrard.

“Jordan Jones has had a wee little setback. He’s got a bit of a tight quad, it’s only small, it’ll only be a few days but it’ll set him back maybe a game or two.”

Rangers are preparing for a tough match with Aberdeen in Pittodrie this Wednesday before facing Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Betfred Cup Final at Hampden on Sunday.
