New QPR star Lyndon Dykes has insisted that he never thought about the prospect of moving to Rangers despite reported interest in the striker from Ibrox.

The Gers never followed up any interest there may have been and Dykes left the Tony Macaroni Arena last month to join up with former Rangers manager Mark Warburton.

Dykes confessed he was “over the moon” to head to the Championship but was always focused on doing his best for Livingston.

“There wasn’t any point I was thinking about signing anywhere,” Dykes said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“I was just focused on being a Livingston player and whatever happened, happened.

“The QPR thing came up and I was over the moon that it did.

“I’ve enjoyed the first two weeks there and now it’s internationals, so it’s all been a bit crazy, to be honest.”

Dykes followed up his move to QPR with a call up to the Scotland squad for the upcoming Nations League games.

Rangers ended up bringing Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten to Ibrox instead so the Gers haven’t exactly missed out by not signing Dykes.

The move to QPR will be a big challenge for the striker after the step up in quality from Livingston after only one season in the Scottish top division.

With a number of ex-Gers currently playing under Warburton, Dykes will get an idea of what it was like to be a Rangers player circa 2015 – and Warburton is probably still playing the exact same football.
