Rangers reportedly close to landing 18-year-old wonderkid in January swoop

Rangers could be set to bring Colombian wonderkid Juan Alegria to Ibrox, according to reports in his homeland, after following a similar path as Alfredo Morelos to European football.

The 18-year-old currently plies his trade in Finland with FC Honka, where he has scored four times in ten games and played in the Europa League this season before being knocked out by Danish side Aarhus.

Alegria started his career with Deportes Tolima before moving to Finland earlier this year and is understood to share an agent with Morelos.

With four goals in ten appearances for Honka, he’s made a prolific start to life in Europe and a move to Ibrox would be a fantastic opportunity for the teenager.

Colombian media claim any move would see the Colombian youth international initially move on loan to Rangers, with the Gers having an option to make it a permanent switch if he impresses.

Morelos moved to Ibrox after a spell with HJK Helsinki in Finland and a move for Alegria could be a really good bit of business for the Light Blues.

With the transfer window opening at the start of next month, it might not be too long before he arrives in Glasgow – although it seems likely he would join the B team at first.

Meanwhile, Dave King has also been speaking about the relationship Rangers previously had with billionaire Mike Ashley, describing the Sports Direct owner’s behaviour as “disgusting”.
