Former Rangers midfielder Alex Rae insists that Alfredo Morelos is the best player in the country – and called the Colombian’s goalscoring record “phenomenal.”
Morelos scored yet again in the 5-0 mauling of Hearts and the title-winning midfielder believes that El Buffalo’s link-up play has improved “dramatically” as he praised the influence he has on Steven Gerrard’s side.
His goal against Hearts took his tally to 25 for the season for Rangers and Rae thinks there’s nobody in the country as good as the Colombia international.
“I’ve gone for Alfredo Morelos. When you talk about influence in a team, when you’ve got 24 goals in 20 (sic) starts it’s phenomenal, remarkable,” Rae said, as quoted by the Daily Record
“But then you touch on what else he brings to the table and the influence he has. The Rangers team feel as if they’re better with him leading the line.
“He’s obviously a goal scorer, brings people into play, his link-up play has improved dramatically. Then you’ve got his individual goals. He rolls people, smashes them in from acute angles.”
It’s impossible to doubt Morelos’ influence on this side and the Ibrox talisman is quickly proving all of his doubters wrong.
The fact that he isn’t just scoring goals domestically but has also netted away to the likes of Porto and Feyenoord show just how deadly a finisher the 23-year-old is.
When you also take his age into account, it’s frightening to think just how could the finished product could actually be.
