Robbie Savage has rubbished the idea that Alfredo Morelos would leave Rangers to join Premier League strugglers Bournemouth after a caller on BBC Five Live’s 606 show suggested the Colombian would be an ideal target for Eddie Howe’s side.
With Jermain Defoe already on loan from the Cherries, a caller thought that Howe should recall the veteran and try to lure his Ibrox team-mate south of the border too – but Savage was having none of it.
The outspoken pundit insisted that Morelos is “better” than Bournemouth and thinks that if El Buffalo does leave Rangers, it’ll be for a higher level of club.
“Morelos is not going to go to Bournemouth, is he? Come on,” Savage said, on BBC Five Live’s 606 show.
“Me and Chris Sutton always argue about (Odsonne) Edouard or Morelos. I know he’s not scored against Celtic but his goals for Rangers have been unbelievable, scored in the Europa League as you rightly say,
“But Morelos, if he leaves Rangers, personally I think he’s better than Bournemouth.
“I don’t think you leave Rangers to go to Bournemouth in the predicament they’re in.”
The Cherries sit second-bottom in the Premier League, two points from safety, and are fighting for their top-flight survival after a disappointing season.
Despite Morelos making no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League, it seems ridiculous to think he’d leave Rangers for a relegation battle on the south coast.
The Colombian will get his move to England eventually but, he’d be making a massive mistake if he was to head for the likes of Bournemouth at this stage of his career.
