Rangers legend Ally McCoist has admitted that deciding not to follow the “fantastic” Harry Redknapp’s lead and take part in ITV’s ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ has caused a rift at home with “nobody” talking to the goalscoring phenomenon.
McCoist was reportedly one of the favourites to enter the jungle but confirmed that he wouldn’t be heading for Australia – although did admit he was open to taking part next year.
The former Rangers striker and manager joked that his wife was only looking for a few weeks in the luxury hotel families are housed in during the show rather than seeing Super forced to eat “spiders and earwigs.”
“I’m not doing the jungle and there is nobody talking to me,” McCoist told TalkSport co-host Alan Brazil, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“My wife is not giving a monkey’s about me eating spiders and earwigs, she is just wanting a two stretch in that Versace hotel.
“The kids aren’t talking to me at all. The older ones aren’t even talking to me.
“It’s the biggest thing we watch as a family, it’s brilliant entertainment. Harry was fantastic last year.
“It’s too late now but I’ll do it next year.”
The idea of seeing McCoist in the jungle would no doubt appeal to many fans – albeit some for different reasons than others – although you’d be guaranteed entertainment
After his stint commentating at the 2018 World Cup saw McCoist praised for taking an interest in the local history, a spell in the jungle would’ve made fantastic viewing.
Hopefully, McCoist is taken up on his offer to join next year’s show and given a couple of weeks Down Under to win a whole new set of fans.
