Rangers loanee Stephen Kelly played a key role for Ross County as the Staggies survived a scare from plucky Celtic to take an important three points at both ends of the Scottish Premiership table – and Gers fans on Twitter were full of praise for their new “hero.”

Jordan White’s header secured a win to lift County off the foot of the table and leave Rangers potentially two games away from being crowned champions for the first time in a decade.

Kelly took to Twitter earlier this morning, calling it a “big win” for John Hughes’ side and Gers fans were full of praise for the Scotland under-21 star after his performance.

After being deployed in a slightly deeper role, Kelly couldn’t impact the game as much as he would have hoped but played an important part in the Staggies’ second win over Celtic this season.

Rangers could see themselves crowned champions in two weeks’ time, if results go their way, and Kelly will be returning to Ibrox in the summer hoping he can force his way into the squad.

His performances at the Staggies have done his chances no harm, and Gers fans on Twitter were delighted with how he performed against Celtic last night.
