Rangers loanee impresses as new boss gets first Premiership win

Rangers loanee Stephen Kelly put in an impressive performance last night for Ross County as he helped new boss John Hughes to his first win since taking the reins in Dingwall.

The Staggies stunned Hibs 2-0 at Easter Road to climb off the foot of the Premiership table and leapfrog Hamilton as Yogi shocked his old side last night.

Kelly had a couple of efforts at goal and pulled the strings in the middle of the park as Jack Ross’ side slipped to a second defeat in a matter of days after losing at Ibrox on Saturday.

Kelly seems to be really finding his stride in Dingwall and has become an important player for the Staggies in their fight against relegation to the Championship.

The Scotland under-21 star was composed on the ball and looked more than comfortable against Hibs’ established stars in the middle of the park.

County boss Hughes was delighted with the result and hailed his side after picking up their first win since the former Hibs and Falkirk gaffer took the reins, telling the BBC: “They deserve that and the thing that pleases me most is a clean sheet. The shape was solid. We caused Hibs all sorts of problems.

“Hibs were the better team in the first 10 minutes. After that we came right into the game and really passed it and took the game to them.”
