Rangers loanee Kai Kennedy shone on his debut for Raith Rovers yesterday as they stunned Hearts 3-2 at Tynecastle thanks to goals from Gozie Ugwu, Manny Duku and Reghan Tumilty – and Gers fans on Twitter were buzzing after he was named Man of the Match against the title favourites.
Liam Boyce pulled gave Hearts a lifeline after 58 minutes before grabbing a second in injury-time but it was the performance of Kennedy for the Fifers that was the talk of the capital.
Raith had only returned to training 24 hours after seeing a Covid-19 outbreak at the club forced the cancellation of last weekend’s clash with Inverness CT.
Kennedy joined John McGlynn’s side earlier this month after penning a new deal at Ibrox but was frustrated in his wait for a debut as the weather then Covid left him waiting.
The teenager was involved in everything for Raith as he finally got to make his first appearance and it was well worth the wait as he inspired them to a victory few will have expected before kick-off.
Rangers fans were buzzing to see him make an immediate impact before being replaced in the 87th minute – with some calling for him to be involved with Steven Gerrard’s first-team when he returns to Ibrox next season.
Here are some of the reactions to Kennedy’s stunning performance at Tynecastle:
He’s a terrific talent 👏🏻
