Rangers loan star Kieran Wright has been hailed as a “real find” for Partick Thistle after helping the Jags to a 1-0 win over Montrose with his third consecutive clean sheet.
Connor Muray’s close-range strike secured the points for Ian McCall’s side as the Maryhill Magyars closed to within four points of league leaders Falkirk – who play Rangers later on today in the League Cup.
McCall praised Wright after his shut-out and hailed the way he killed an attack late on as Montrose threatened to grab an equaliser.
“I’m really pleased for them to get another clean sheet,” McCall told Partick’s official website.
Sena was terrific again and Richard Foster was praising him at full time because that’s now two top performances in a row from him. Also, to see Kieran Wright come and collect that high ball in the last minute – it was excellent – he’s been a real find for us.”
Wright faces serious competition for a place at Ibrox but going out on loan and regularly impressing for Partick will do his long-term chances at Rangers no harm at all.
The Scotland under-21 international will be a vital player for the Jags in their bid to get promoted back to the Championship at the first time of asking, and regular clean sheets will definitely help.
With a number of experienced players around him, there will be a few of his current team-mates who can really help him improve and force his way into the reckoning under Steven Gerrard.
