Rangers legend Neil McCann has been appointed interim manager at Inverness Caledonian Thistle after John Robertson took compassionate leave – and Gers fans are gutted they won’t get to see him on RangersTV.

McCann’s surprise appointment was confirmed after the Caley Jags drew 2-2 with bottom of the table Alloa Athletic as their promotion hopes took a dent.

McCann has a spell in charge of Dundee, winning 22 of his 65 games at the Dens Park side, but has been working mainly as a pundit in recent years after leaving the Dark Blues.

Robertson went on compassionate leave after the death of a relative and the Hearts legend will hopefully be back in the dugout quickly after his time away.

Gers fans have loved McCann’s analysis on Rangers TV as the former Ibrox winger provided matchday insight with Steven Gerrard’s side romping their way to the Premiership title.

McCann’s first game in charge will be against another of McCann’s former clubs, Hearts, on Friday night as they look to push back up the table from their current sixth position.
