Rangers icon Brian Laudrup has singled out Ryan Kent as the one player Steven Gerrard needs to keep at Ibrox this summer, despite near-constant interest in the Gers star – with Laudrup hailing him as the “the kind of player that turns a dull game into a spectacular one.” [Four Lads Had a Dream blog].
Leeds have regularly been linked with a move for Kent [Scottish Sun] with the Premier League side reportedly preparing a £15million bid to try and lure Kent to Yorkshire.
Laudrup insists Kent is too important for the Light Blues and warned Gerrard that he must do everything to keep the former Liverpool winger at Ibrox as they look to defend their Scottish Premiership title.
“I could mention two or three but Kent is the one we really need to keep,” Laudrup said.
“I think it shows when Leeds have been after him for a while. He’s the kind of player you pay to watch, the kind of player that turns a dull game into a spectacular one.
“He’s the type of player that can open up defences in a second, the kind of player you need in Scotland and Europe.”
Kent had an outstanding season as the Gers romped to the league title, netting 13 times and laying on 15 assists in 52 games, and it is obvious just how important he is to the Light Blues.
While there will no doubt be offers that will be seriously tempting, replacing Kent’s output would be incredibly hard for Rangers and would leave them at a real disadvantage going into a massively important season.
